JOPLIN, MO -- The El Paso Diablos are undergoing negotiations to move the team to Joplin, Missouri.
KFOX14's FOX affiliate, KFJX FOX14, reports
the Joplin City Council heard a proposal Monday night from WLD Suarez Baseball LLC to keep Joplin's Joe Becker Stadium by modernizing and renovating the stadium.
FOX14 reports the project would cost the city roughly $9.3 million in renovation costs. The Joplin Globe reports
the executive vice president of Suarez told them it would cost the city $5.9 million.
The renovations would include adding restaurants and meeting rooms to the stadium.
The city's council unanimously voted to continue negotiations. They would continue talks at a later council meeting.
If the project is approved at the end of the year, it appears the El Paso Diablos would start playing in Joplin in 2015.
