Dozens of drivers on Country Club Road receive traffic tickets

EL PASO, Texas-- El Paso police have been cracking down on drivers who have failed to follow traffic signs along Country Club Road.
Drivers in the lower valley have become very familiar with the construction, detours, and lane closures.
A nearby resident Bill Hargrove says, Its very congested with detours on some of the work being done.
The El Paso Police Department claims many drivers have not paid attention to the construction site.
Officer Mike Baranyay says, Fifty citations were issued in the area of Country Club Road construction here in the west side.
EPPD reports that in addition to the fifty citations issued, twenty-Eight more have been given in just the past week.
Baranyay informs motorists on the price of a citation given in a construction zone, When youre committing a traffic violation in a construction zone there is the possibility of the fine being increased and possibly even being doubled in a construction zone.
Hargrove says its not just the fines people need to worry about, There have been some accidents. Actually I live just off of Country Club and there have been a few accidents.
With crews busy working on the road, there are plenty of traffic controls signs from Doniphan Road to Love Road.
Hargrove advises, You have to really pay attention because there are a number of detours and signs that direct you on different routes.
The El Paso Police Department has said it will continue to monitor the area as long as construction continues.
The Country Club Road project is expected to continue for another sixteen months.
