Teens reported missing found

By: Oscar Garcia

Hillsboro, N.M. Nine teenage boys reported missing from a ranch for troubled youths about 80 miles northwest of Las Cruces for troubles youths have been found and are reportedly safe. New Mexico State Police officers were sent to the home to check on the teens after reports of abuse at the Tierra Blanca High Country Youth Program in Hillsboro, N.M., surfaced. An Amber Alert was issued after the teens and ranch operators were not found on the property. Officers thought they were hiding somewhere on the 30,000-acre property and launched an aerial search. Due to the reports of abuse, ranch leaders were ordered to turn the teen boys over to their parents or surrender them to the state. Allegations include teens being shackled and beaten by staff members.
Pete Domenici Jr. said in a statement Friday evening that the boys had been on a previously planned activity, away from the ranch. He says they are safe and have already been picked up by their parents.
