Man stabbed for his shoes

EL PASO, Texas - Police said two El Paso men arrested Monday are connected to a stabbing after the suspects tried to steal a pair of shoes in the Lower Valley area.

Manuel Castro, 22, and Oscar Ayabar, 19, were arrested at about 8:30 p.m. for an aggravated robbery on the 8600 block of Winchester. Police said that the two men demanded a 20-year-old victim give them his shoes.
The victim refused and Castro and Ayabar, according to police, began stabbing him with a knife and punching him. The two men took several items belonging to the victim, including a wallet, hoodie and the shoes.

The victim suffered cuts and other injuries to his back, shoulders, arms and face, police said. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Police found Castro and Ayabar after the alleged attack and arrested them on suspicion of aggravated robbery.

Castro and Ayabar were booked in El Paso County Jail on bond of $100,000 each.Mug shots were not made available as the investigation continues, police said.
