Fire officials say south central house fire may be arson

By: Jesse Martinez
EL PASO, Texas A vacant home in south central El Paso caught fire Tuesday afternoon, and officials believe the cause may be arson.

Fire crews were dispatched around 4:27 p.m. to the home on the 3100 block of Findley Avenue.

Crews saw heavy smoke coming from the home, and they placed the fire under control in about 20 minutes.

No injuries were reported, but an elderly woman living next door was evacuated as a precaution, officials said.

The fire started in the back of the home and spread throughout causing about $50,000 worth of damage.

About 12 units and 27 firefighters responded to the fire.

Officials said the fire was intentionally set and are investigating the incident.
