UTEP traffic changes for remaining football games
By: Jesse Martinez
EL PASO, Texas With three home games for the University of Texas at El Paso football team, officials said there will be traffic and parking changes.
Due to a construction project by the Texas Department of Transportation, there will be no through traffic on Sun Bowl Drive, officials said.
Those who park in the South Sun Bowl Lots S3, S4, S6, P5, P7 and the parking garage can access those lots by exiting Schuster Avenue from Interstate 10.
Fans who park in those south lots are asked to use the designated pedestrian routes through Miner Alley, which is behind the Sun Bowl parking garage, to enter the stadium.
Those who use the north Sun Bowl lots -- P8, P9, P10, P11, P12, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6 and S5 -- can access those by exiting on Executive Center Boulevard or Mesa Street from I-10.
Sun Bowl Drive will be open from the south for north Sun Bowl parking, but will be closed off for through traffic in that direction at Glory Road. There will be limited Sun Bowl Drive access to the R2 and R3 lots off of Mesa Street.
UTEP officials said RVs should access R5 by Mesa Street and Sun Bowl Drive only. The RV lot is sold out, officials said.
No pedestrian traffic is allowed on Sun Bowl Drive between Glory Road and the parking garage next to the University Bookstore, officials said.
The south shuttle from Schuster Avenue is available for the rest of the season, officials said.
