Police: Three roommates sexually assaulted intoxicated woman

By: Jesse Martinez
LAS CRUCES, N.M. Police said three roommates are accused of raping a 22-year-old woman Saturday who was heavily intoxicated.

Police learned of the sexual assault that occurred at the Grove apartments at 320 E. Union Ave. when they met with the woman at Memorial Medical Center on Saturday.

The woman was drinking alcohol with Cody Gregory Highfill, 19, and Stephen Moleres, 21, Friday evening, police said.

Police learned the two men along with Roberto Balderrama, 19, sexually assaulted the woman early Saturday morning.

Highfill later carried the woman to her apartment in the same complex and again sexually assaulted her, police said.

Several witnesses told police that the woman was too drunk to consent to any sexual activity and was "clearly intoxicated."

All three men were charged with one count each of criminal sexual penetration aiding or abetting. Balderrama and Moleres were arrested Saturday while Highfill was served with a warrant Sunday evening. They were booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center with bail set at $20,000 each.
