Patients choose herbal over prescription medication
By: Chrisdyann Uribe
EL PASO, Texas-- Some analysts predicted healthcare costs to rise because of the reforms tied to the Affordable Care Act. They said that means some people have begun to turn to alternatives, including herbs and supplements.
Rosanne Grijalba, co-owner of All Natural Health and Wellness store, says, "I have noticed within the last five years more and more people taking responsibility for their well-being and their wellness."
People have used herbs and supplements that could be more beneficial in the long run
"If you get in and start taking pretty good supplements and B complex to help you reduce the stress in your body, you can go long term feeling good." said Grijalba.
Customers have found these supplements are a lot more inexpensive and worked as a substitute for most common medications such as aspirin for headaches.
"We have a product, its turmeric curcumin, and that's used a pain reliever, advises Grijalba.
Many want to stay healthy by preventing illness before they get sick rather than searching for a cure after.
Grijalba says, "What we want to really focus in though on is doing a lot of preventive which is taking your supplements then long term it's going to save you a lot of money."
Patients should always check with their doctors before taking or mixing any type of herbs, especially if already on a prescribed medical plan, including diabetic care.
