El Paso ranked one of the least literate large cities
EL PASO, Texas
Central Connecticut State University ranks El Paso fourth to last in this year's "America's Most Literate Cities" rankings.
Stockton, CA; Corpus Christi, TX; and Bakersfield, CA, did worse in the rankings compared to the Sun City.
According to the list (http://www.ccsu.edu/page.cfm?p=15619), El Paso hasn't fared well as far back as 2005, never ranking past 68 out of 76.
America's most literate city is Washington, D.C., according to the 2012 final ranks.
The study is based on cities with populations greater than 250,000 focusing on six key factors: number of book stores, educational attainment, Internet resources, library resources, periodical publishing resources and newspaper circulation.
Of these six categories, El Paso ranked last in the number of bookstores relative to its size.
