Reduction in furlough days affects 3,100 civilian employees at Fort Bliss

FORT BLISS, Texas -- Fort Bliss civilian employees will complete their mandatory unpaid furlough days by next week, according to military officials.

More than 3,000 Army civilian workers were excited to hear the news about the number of unpaid furlough days being reduced from 11 to six, said Fort Bliss spokesman Lee Peters.

The mandatory furloughs were part of the sequestration budget cuts enacted by Congress back in March.

Services and offices affected by furloughs should be back to regular schedule after Aug. 14.
