Nine dogs believed to be abandoned found inside Upper Valley Mobile Home

EL PASO, Texas -

Nine dogs, some still puppies were found inside a Upper Valley mobile home Monday.

"At this point we have approximately about nine mixed Chihuahuas," Animal Service's Hugo Navarro said.

KFOX 14 was the only station to capture the video of animal services and El Paso police trying to gather all the animals.

"There were active and alert," Navarro said.

It took about an hour for animal services to catch one pup as he ran around in the home's front yard.

That taste of freedom and fresh air probably couldn't have come a moment sooner.

"The inside of the mobile home was extreme, fully covered with feces. (There was a ) very strong odor," Navarro said.

Neighbors KFOX 14 talked to refused to go on camera.

But those who were nearby the home say they didn't smell much of an odor from the home.

Navarro said he thinks the tenant of this mobile home and owner of the dogs actually also lives in another mobile home just down the street on Borderland Road.

Police and animal services tried to see if anyone was home, as did KFOX 14, but no answered Monday afternoon.

Animal Services says this whole potential hoarding case is an ongoing investigation.

The owner of the dogs could face 27 citations for no registration, no microchips and not updating the dogs' vaccines.
