Police: Unregistered broker offered investments to victims
By: Jesse Martinez
EL PASO, Texas A 50-year-old man is facing charges by working as an unlicensed broker and making commission, police said.
James Jordan worked as a broker and offered victims an investment into the movie industry, police said.
The victims would invest into Alliance Group Entertainment, and Jordan would receive commission on those sales on behalf of Boo Ya Investments, police said.
Jordan would make money by selling investments through a company website. Police said the incidents occurred from Jan. 1, 2007 through May 4, 2010.
Financial crimes investigators discovered that Jordan was not a registered agent or broker with the Texas Securities Board, and Alliance Group Entertainment was also not a registered security.
Jordan was charged with sale of securities by an unregistered person, and he was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on July 31 with bail set at $400,000.
Police ask that anyone who may have invested in Alliance Group Entertainment through Jordan, Garza & Associates, Boo Ya Investments or James Jordan to call police at 915-832-4400.
