By: Jamel Valencia and Stacey Welsh
EL PASO, Texas -- The El Paso Police Department blocked off Oxcart Run Street because they are investigating what they say is a pedestrian accident. The police department said a 14-year-old boy is in serious condition at Del Sol Medical center after a car hit him while he was in the street.
Police said they are still investigating what happened, but said the driver of the car is also 14 years old. Neighbors and police also said the boy was headed toward the car when he was hit for some unknown reason.
Neighbors told KFOX14 what they know about the accident as it unfolded.
"The guy who ran over him was driving, and he ran in front of the car playing around. They're saying [the driver] thought he was going to stop, but he didn't, and he ran over him. He bounced and hit his head," Far-East El Paso resident Breanna Gomez said.
The police department said no charges have been filed in this incident and the investigation is ongoing.
