Police investigate train that hit vehicle in Northeast El Paso

EL PASO, Texas

The El Paso Police Department and Union Pacific officials are investigating a train that hit a vehicle in Northeast El Paso around 7:35 a.m. Saturday.

A spokesperson for Union Pacific said there was a vehicle on the tracks south of Deer Avenue and north of Loop 375 when a person tried to flag crews down to alert them to the vehicle.

The train wasn't able to stop in time.

No one was inside that car.

The case has been turned over to the El Paso Police Department.

It's still not known if the person who was trying to alert the the crew owned the vehicle.
