Popular principal placed on leave for second time

EL PASO, Texas: A high-profile school leader has been placed on administrative leave for the second time in four months.
El Paso Independent School District confirms Austin High School Principal Dr. John Tanner has been placed on paid leave.
A spokesperson for the district would only comment, "Dr. John Tanner has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an employee relations matter."
This is the second time Tanner has been placed on leave in a matter of months.
In April, students rallied to bring back Austin High School Dr. John Tanner after he was one of eight administrators facing termination.
Tanner faced termination after an audit by the Weaver Group allegedly implicated him in the complex cheating scheme lead by former superintendent Dr. Lorenzo Garcia. Garcia is now serving three years in federal prison.
However, this time, Tanners lawyer, Tiger Hanner tells our media partners the El Paso Times, the leave has nothing to do with cheating but rather an incident that occurred on campus.
Still students said they can't imagine a situation that would warrant his removal.
"He's always helping out students and college-wise -- he's always pushing students towards the college world; he's there for any student. He likes to joke around. He's just a fun principal to be around," said Alondra Flores a member of the 2016 class of Austin High School.
Students said they'd don't know if there will be another protest in support of the popular principal but they say they want to know the reason he might not be greeting them in the hallways in 10 days.
