El Paso singers let it rip for chance to wow El Paso Chihuahuas crowds

By: Genevieve Curtis
EL PASO, Texas -- Its American Idol the El Paso edition -- sort of.

There are no yellow tickets to Hollywood, but there are on-the-field passes and a chance to wow crowds with your pipes at El Paso Chihuahuas games.

Two weeks ago, the team put out an open call for national anthem singers and vocalists responded by uploading their take on the traditional tune to YouTube.

The Chihuahuas organization said its a chance for Sun City talent to shine.

Dozens of singers are showcasing their vocals from the youngest fans to those hitting the highest note, just make sure you know the words to The Star-Spangled Banner. (Hint: it's gave proof to the night not gave truth to the night.)

Of course, many a celebrity has mixed up the lyrics before. Christina Aguilara anyone?

But with 68 home games, there is plenty of room on the roster for El Pasos talented and aspiring singers.

While there may not be a different singer for every single game, the organization wants to display as much hometown talents as possible.

Stepping on to the field takes talent and singing in front of several thousand takes guts, but then again, this is the home of the brave.
