Vanessa is a Las Cruces resident, dedicated to continuing the KFOX tradition of providing the best news coverage of her community. KFOX has the only permanent television news office in Las Cruces. I was born and raised in the small border town of Del Rio, Texas, but I'm glad to make Las Cruces my home.

I graduated from Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University) with a B.A. in Mass Communication and a minor in Political Science.

Just weeks after graduation I began my journalism career when I took a job in Abilene, Texas working as anchor for the Telemundo affiliate and reporter for the ABC affiliate. I spent two years there covering all types of stories before my husband and I moved to Florida, where he was stationed with the Air Force.

It was there that I made the switch to print journalism, working with Northwest Florida Daily News as a contract writer for an Air Force newspaper.

After moving to Las Cruces, I was glad to return to my real passion: television news. I really enjoy meeting people, but the best part of my job is when my story and my work make a difference in someone's life.

When I'm not at work, I enjoy spending time with my husband, shopping, reading, visiting my nieces and nephews, and of course - trying new restaurants.
