KFOX-TV added another chapter to its proud tradition of journalistic excellence on Saturday night when KFOX Morning News Anchor Ben Swann was awarded the Texas Lone Star Emmy Award for Outstanding Breaking News coverage. Swann was honored for his exclusive coverage of the rescue of a family from a burning RV on Interstate-10 by El Paso Police Officer Jaime Esparza.
"We're very proud to have journalists like Ben Swann at KFOX," says KFOX-TV General Manager John Witte. "Without Ben's efforts, this heroic story would never have been known to the El Paso/Las Cruces community. This type of Breaking News Coverage shows why The KFOX Morning News continues to gain thousands of new viewers."
"This is a tremendous honor for Ben and for KFOX," says KFOX News Director David Bennallack. "With more than 150 television stations in Texas, to be singled out for an Emmy is an outstanding achievement. This is more evidence of the quality of news coverage viewers have come to expect from KFOX."
KFOX has been honored with the Emmy for Breaking News Coverage twice in the past three years by the Texas Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Over the past six years, KFOX has received 11 Emmy Awards and 37 Emmy nominations.
