Arleene Barrios

Traffic Anchor/Reporter

I couldn't see myself doing anything else than being out in the community, meeting new people, gathering the news, and sharing what I've learned with others. It was a high school TV production class that made me realize what I wanted to do with my life.

I followed that dream throughout my four years in college. I graduated from the University of Florida in 2004, with a degree in Telecommunication-News.

While in school I worked at the various local radio and TV stations based out of my college campus. I started off as general assignment reporter for Mid-Florida Public Radio, WUFT-FM, and worked my way up to assistant producer, and finally host of the Noon Show. I also hosted a segment on All Things Considered. For a short while, I reported for WRUF-AM as well. Towards my last year, I became more involved with WUFT-TV, where I worked as a reporter/photographer. Meanwhile, I was given the opportunity to intern with Univision's Primer Impacto.

A few months after graduation I landed a job at WSVN in Miami, working as a writer for the morning show, Today In Florida, and eventually moved on to the afternoon and evening newscasts.

I'm a first-generation Cuban-American, who was raised in Miami. It sounds funny now, but I didn't actually learn English until I started school. I'm very proud of my roots, and I am fascinated by other cultures, customs, and languages. I love adventure, and I love to travel. During college I spent 5 months in Rome, learning Italian, the arts, and the city's history.

I joined the KFOX Team in September of 2005. The Sun City and its people have been very warm and welcoming. I'm very happy to be in such an interesting city, where I get to cover international stories.

I look forward to meeting you when I'm out doing what I love, asking questions!
