KFOX News at Nine - Anchor/Reporter

I can’t say I’ve known all my life I wanted to become a journalist, but I can pinpoint it to one event: Election 2000. I remember staying up all night watching the networks as they attempted to call the race between George W. Bush and Al Gore. From that point on, I was hooked, hanging chad after hanging chad!

Career path in mind, I went on to attend The University of Texas in Austin where I majored in Broadcast Journalism and Plan II Honors, and I was also named a Senior Fellow in the College of Communication. During my senior year, I was awarded the George Foreman Tribute to Lyndon B. Johnson Award through the Radio and Television News Directors Foundation.

As a part of that scholarship, I attended the annual RTNDA convention in Las Vegas where I met the people who gave me my first break in local television. About three months later, I started my first television job as weekend anchor and reporter at KWES-TV in Midland/Odessa, Texas. Six months later I became the morning anchor there, and needless to say I am not missing the alarm going off at 2 a.m.!

Outside of the change in schedule, I am thrilled to be a part of the KFOX team because of this station’s reputation as a leader in local news coverage. Other stations in the state, and I’m sure the nation, know KFOX for the quality of news it provides its viewers. I am so proud to work with people who care just as much as I do about their responsibility to you.

When I’m not at the station, you’ll likely catch me eating out at one of the many fabulous restaurants in town. I’m still learning how to cook myself, but it’s hard trying to live up to my mom in that department! I also love to read, so don’t be surprised to see me browsing best-sellers at the bookstore.

Feel free to contact me with any stories or comments. I’m looking forward to getting to know you!
