Peter Daut
Weekend Anchor / Reporter
I joined the dedicated KFOX News Team as a General Assignment reporter in July 2006, and was promoted to Weekend Anchor in December of that year. After arriving in the Sun City I immediately hit the ground running, covering the worst storm to slam the area in more than half a century. Meeting residents who maintained their optimism— despite losing everything— was an experience I will never forget. My first job in television news came while I was still a student at the University of Southern California. I was the youngest newswriter and field producer ever hired by the number one station in Los Angeles, KABC-TV. I held that position for two years while balancing a full load of classes.A former Eagle Scout and competitive swimmer, I enjoy exercising and taking part in a variety of outdoor activities. One reason I’m glad to be in El Paso: my love of Mexican food!I grew up in Orange County, California, and graduated Cum Laude from USC, where I double-majored in Broadcast Journalism and Political Science, and also earned a Spanish minor. I earned the distinction of Renaissance Scholar, and am a graduate of the Annenberg School for Communication. I also participated in the campus news station, Annenberg TV News.I’m excited to be in the Borderland, providing viewers with an in-depth look at what’s happening in their communities. If you have any story ideas, please feel free to e-mail me at Peter.Daut@kfoxtv.comAwards
