KFOX14 Las Cruces Bureau Reporter

As a Brooklyn, New York native, I am a long way from what I once called home. But the sunny skies and mountainous landscape of southern New Mexico have absolutely captivated this former New York City girl. The scenic beauty coupled with the hospitality of its residents have made me proud to call Las Cruces my new home.

Since the eighth grade, I have known that my calling was to be a journalist. It was only when I attended Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York that I discovered my passion for broadcast journalism. I credit much of my determination and skills to my experiences as an undergraduate. Not that I ever needed confirmation of my field of choice, but I certainly received it in August of 2008 while representing my college radio station at the Democratic National Convention in Denver, Colorado where Barack Obama accepted his presidential nomination. I was a small fish in a huge sea of professional journalists from around the world! It was a monumental time in history and in my own life.

Immediately after graduation, I freelanced as an editor at NY1 and a production assistant at Fox News Radio in New York City. Then seven months after I received my college diploma, I was given my first opportunity as a television reporter for FiOS1 News in New Jersey. I was a multi-media journalist - meaning I did all of the shooting, writing, and editing on my own.

I am now thrilled to be a part of the KFOX-14 news team. I am dedicated to representing the Las Cruces area and covering the stories that are important to you. If you have a story idea that you would like to share with me, you can contact me at Samantha.Manning@KFOXTV.com and you can also follow me on Twitter @SamanthaKFOX14. I'm looking forward to getting to know you!
