Aggies Pummel Texas Southern!
For the second time in three weeks, the New Mexico State football team is doing something it never did last season. Celebrating a win.NMSU broke out on top 7-0 at the end of the first quarter and never trailed, building a 21-7 lead at the half against Division I-AA Texas Southern. The Aggies poured it on with 27 more in the second half, and won in a rout - 48-14.NMSU's Chase Holbrook entered the game leading the nation in passing yardage with 853 yards, and added 347 more on 27 of 42 passing, but this was Jeremiah Williams night.Williams rushed for 106 yards and three touchdowns, and caught a TD pass as well - the first Aggie to score 4 TD's in a game since Chris Barnes in 1999. Williams was thrust into the starters role after Justine Buries tore the ACL in his left knee against New Mexico on September 9th.Williams opened the scoring with a one yard TD run at the end of the first quarter, capping a 13 play 58 yard NMSU scoring drive. Texas Southern struck back three minutes later when Cornelius Harmon found Brent Wilson for a 6 yard TD pass, tying the score at 7. But after that it was all Aggies.Williams scored two more times in the second quarter. The first was on a 23 yard shovel pass from Holbrook,

(Video Highlight: J. Williams 35 yd TD run)Six minutes into the third quarter, Williams reached the end zone for a fourth time as he fought his way in from 4 yards out, capping an 82 yard drive.

Then it was Chris Williams turn, as he took a quick out from Holbrook 64 yards for a 35-7 NMSU lead.Holbrook opened the fourth quarter with his third TD pass of the night, finding Nick Cleaver from 6 yards out. The Aggies capped their scoring when Senior defensive back Spencer Moore recovered a Tiger fumble for a TD.
(Video Highlight: S.Moore recovers TSU fumble for TD) The extra point failed, but the Aggies had a 48-7 lead.Holbrook now has 1,200 yards passing on the season, with 93 completions in 138 attempts, 9 TD's and 2 interceptions.The Aggies are now 2-1 and have a bye week before The Battle of I-10 at the Sun Bowl against UTEP on Saturday, September 30th.
