Jeremy Mayfield’s stepmother, Lisa, was arrested Saturday after an incident at the NASCAR driver’s home, ESPN reported.

The sports network reported that -- according to the Catawba County chief of police, Cecil Cook -- Lisa Mayfield was charged with public intoxication and had warrants issues for four counts of simple assault and second degree trespassing.

ESPN reported that Lisa Mayfield spent Saturday night in jail and was released Sunday after posting $5,000 bond.

According to ESPN, Jeremy Mayfield’s wife, Shana, said she received a phone call Saturday that Lisa Mayfield was on the couple’s property, banging on the door. The sports network said that by the time Shana and Jeremy returned to their home, Lisa Mayfield was already in handcuffs.

According to Shana, ESPN reported, assault charges were brought against Lisa Mayfield because she allegedly became physical with a family that was staying at the NASCAR driver’s home.

Jeremy Mayfield and Lisa Mayfield have been at odds publically for months. After it was reported that Jeremy tested positive for methamphetamines and was suspended by NASCAR, his stepmother came forward and signed an affidavit saying she witnessed the driver using meth at least 30 times since 1998.

In response to his stepmother’s allegations of his drug use, Jeremy Mayfield accused Lisa Mayfield of killing his father, who committed suicide in 2007. He also claimed that his stepmother was paid by NASCAR for her testimony against the driver.

Lisa Mayfield has since filed a civil suit against Jeremy Mayfield.
