Panthers Release Veteran DT Scott

POSTED: 1:28 pm MDT August 20, 2008

(Sports Network) - The Carolina Panthers reached an injury settlement with defensive tackle Ian Scott Wednesday and released the veteran.

Scott, who was signed in the offseason after the Panthers traded defensive tackle Kris Jenkins to the New York Jets, sprained his left knee early in training camp.

He also missed all of last season when he was with the Philadelphia Eagles with a knee injury.

The Florida product has played in 49 career NFL games -- all with the Chicago Bears -- and totaled 96 tackles with two sacks.

In addition, Carolina signed undrafted rookie receiver Sean Bailey out of the University of Georgia.
