EL PASO, Texas —

Rumors circulating among local school districts have prompted district officials to enhance security at schools.

Since the tragedy in Connecticut, pranks and rumors have been circulating at El Paso schools.

The latest rumor that mentioned a teen planing to carry out a deadly act led Ysleta Independent School District officials to assign an early-release schedule for Friday.

The district's website (http://bit.ly/T8m2hq) informs parents that it is working with its security department and El Paso Police Department to keep all of its campuses safe.

District officials said they have a plan in place at all schools in case an emergency should happen. Students and staff practice the plan regularly, said district officials.

At this time, all YISD campuses are on modified lockdown.

On Wednesday, El Paso police said they arrested an El Paso Community College student after he made threats against Hanks High School online. He was charged with terroristic threats.

Police did not release his mug shot. They explained that making his mug shot public would call attention to the man and they said they believe that's what he wanted.
