West Valley volunteer fire department receives high ISO rating

By Jesse Martinez

VINTON, Texas —

Home insurance rates are going down for several homeowners thanks to a local fire department getting a near perfect rating.

Vinton's West Valley Volunteer Fire Department received a class 2 rating, which is a upgrade from their previous class 4 rating.

The better the Insurance Service Office rating, the lower the insurance rates home and business owners have to pay.

"We're doing our part to help out the citizens of this area, and that's everybody in Canutillo, Vinton, Westway and Anthony. They can go to our website, print out the form and send it to their insurance company, so they can get the discount on their insurance," said Bill Adler, fire chief.

Fire departments across the nation are rated on a scale of 10 to 1 with 10 being the worst and 1 being the best.
