West Texas School Superintendents Learn More About Swine Flu

EL PASO, Texas —

School superintendents from across West Texas met in El Paso Wednesday to learn more about the swine flu and how they should respond.

A doctor from the El Paso Public Health Department answered their questions about dealing with this public health concern.

School districts across the region are taking precautionary actions like encouraging all staff and students to be especially vigilant in washing their hands and keeping the surfaces they use as clean as possible.

"Right now, we have not seen a decrease in attendance. And we are very happy for that because we do have TAKS testing going on. We also have graduations coming up. So, we encourage all of the students, if they feel fine, if they are healthy, to continue their normal day," said EPISD spokeswoman Berenice Zubia.

No school district in El Paso County has reported any suspected cases of swine flu.
