Weapon Used To Assault, Rob Victims In Northeast

EL PASO, Texas —

One aggravated assault and one robbery occurred Thursday night. Both involved a gun at different locations and police say the suspect may be the same person.

The two incidents happened around 10 p.m. within a 20-minute span.

The aggravated robbery happened on the 4500 block of Hercules Avenue. Officers said the suspect approached the victim from behind, hitting him with a gun and demanding money. He got away with his wallet and cell phone. Police said he also tried to take the victim's car.

The other incident happened on the 8800 block of Lawson, which is a few blocks away from where the robbery happened. The victim told police in this case the suspect pointed a gun to his head and told him to give him all his money. When the victim told him he didn't have any, the robber then hit him on the head with the gun. The victim was able to run away and call for help.

Police believe the robber took off toward Vulcan and Atlas in an older model pickup truck. K-9 units searched the area overnight but didn't find him.

He's described as a white man in his late 20s to early 30s, with a thin build, about 6 feet 1 inch tall. He was last seen wearing a blue or black jersey and dark colored pants.

If you saw anything you're asked to call authorities.
