Wacky Winter Continues, Borderland Prepares For Snow

EL PASO, Texas —

The Borderland is currently under a winter storm warning as yet another snow storm begins to move through our area.

"It's just going from the sun to windy to cold, you know, to the snow, so to me, it's kind of weird," said Rich Hardin, a Central El Paso resident.

Borderland residents could be seen bundling up Monday as they prepare as frigid temps took hold.

"My relatives up north in Albuquerque said we're seeing a little bit more snow than them, and that’s unusual this year," said Rich Hardin, a central El Paso resident.

As the storm moves in, TxDOT officials have activated their emergency operations center and are scrambling crews to begin monitoring road conditions to determine which to close. Trucks are standing by to deice the freeways.

"We will have crews out patrolling and also care of any of the overpasses,” said Gilbert Jordan, with TxDOT. "TxDOT’s focus is going to be on Interstate 10, Loop 375, and U.S. 54. We're only going to be concentrating on the right hand lane, the far right hand lane and the on and off ramps."

Crews remind drivers to take extra time on their Tuesday and Wednesday morning commutes.
