Voting begins for UTEP's chance to be in ESPN commercial

By Jesse Martinez

EL PASO, Texas —

The University of Texas at El Paso rallied its fans to compete for a chance to be the first campus selected by fans to be featured in an ESPN College GameDay television commercial.

A nationwide vote to determine the winning campus started at 10 a.m. today and will last for 10 days. The winner will be announced after the contest ends Wednesday May 2. Fans are allowed to vote once per day at www.GameDayVote.com or at www.facebook.com/collegegameday.

UTEP held a pep rally at 6 a.m. inside the Sun Bowl to kick off the voting.

"UTEP has the greatest fans in the country and is a spectacular campus," UTEP Football Coach Mike Price said. "This is our opportunity to showcase both to a national audience. I hope all Miner fans will unite and vote to bring the College GameDay crew to El Paso. I can't wait to get Desmond Howard, Chris Fowler, Lee Corso and Kirk Herbstreit in the Sun City!"

The school with the most votes will be featured in a College GameDay ad that will run on the ESPN family of networks this fall.
