EL PASO, Texas —

The crash happened just after 10 p.m. Sunday night at the intersection of First Street and Hunt Avenue.

El Paso County Sheriff's Deputies said a 2003 Kia Rio flipped over landing in a canal.

A 15-year-old girl in the backseat was thrown out of the car and suffered serious injuries.

She is recovering in the hospital this morning, though her condition is not yet known.

The 19-year-old driver and 17-year-old front passenger were not seriously hurt.

At this point it is not known what lead to the crash, though authorities on the scene told KFOX that speeding tends to be a problem in the area.
