UTEP Takes On Buffalo; Bars, And Businesses Win

EL PASO, Texas —

Gameday for UTEP football translates into a big score for Crawdaddy's Bar and Grill on Cincinnati Street in West El Paso.

"It means we are going to expect a bigger crowd, as you can see, I mean, it was a full house when you came in, earlier this week it was so-so, but it picked up today," said Arthur Orozco who works at Crawdaddy's Bar and Grill.

KFOX caught up with some fans who said they had been partying since 11 a.m. for the game that starts at 5 p.m.

"We make it the best we can, and it is always an awesome time, definitely," said Christopher Howard from Northeast El Paso.

"I think a lot more people show up because you know, a lot of people like to come out and support their team," said Steven Pallares from East El Paso.

While the fans are supporting the team now, if the team goes on a losing streak, do bars lose business?

"I think even when UTEP wasn't that good, I mean, people still supported the university," said Orozco.

"I think it does affect it. Quite a few people do, they're skeptical once they start losing," said Howard.

Pallares said he has his own theory about football and bars.

"I think if UTEP does go on a losing streak I think the bars kind of lower their prices a little, so I think, yeah, people still do show up," said Pallares.

Pallares said he is a true fan, because wins are more important to him than the price of beer.

"I want UTEP to win, get a bid bowl," Pallares told KFOX.
