EL PASO, Texas —

The U.S. Honor Flag Miami Tower will be illuminated with blue lights for Jonathan Molina, an El Paso police officer who died from injuries stemming from an assault.

The tower was illuminated for the officer Tuesday night and will remain lit up in his honor until Oct. 12, officials said.

Investigators said Molina saw vandals damage his car and when he questioned them about it, they attacked.

Juan Antonio Gonzalez, 17, is charged with capital murder.

Visitation for Molina will be from 5-9 p.m. Thursday at Martin Funeral Home at 3839 Montana Ave.

A mass is scheduled for Friday at 12:30 p.m. at Saint Patrick's Cathedral in central El Paso, followed by burial at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
