Upper Valley Street Repairs Cause Detour Cocerns

An Upper Valley street is undergoing a major facelift, and as crews install new water pipes and a drainage system, detours are causing concerns when it comes to emergency response.

Borderland Road off of Doniphan has a history of flooding problems, the city is competely redoing the drainage system and repaving the street. The project is expected to tak e 6 months. Meantime, it's causing detours, especially for Fire Station 2, which sits on Borderland.

Fire officials at Fire Station 2 say they were notified in advance, and have made plans to deal with the construciton. They say they have alternate routes, and have only about 30 seconds in response time
