EL PASO, Texas —

A number of counties with low-lying areas remain under a high-wind advisory issued by the National Weather Service office in El Paso until 11 p.m. Saturday.

Winds will be sustained around 30 to 40 mph with gusts as high as 60 mph.

The Weathernet site at the KFOX 14 studios in West El Paso recorded a gust as high as 65 mph Saturday afternoon.

Blowing dust will be an issue Saturday afternoon and into the evening hours.

Visibility was reduced to less than 1 mile in areas like Santa Teresa, according to a brief forecast by the National Weather Service Saturday afternoon.

Driving will be a challenge during these times especially for high profile vehicles, so exercise caution if you are on the roadways.

Also, a high-wind warning is in effect for higher elevations, including the Gilas and Sacramento Mountains until 11 p.m. Saturday.

That warning shows winds will be around 35 to 45 mph with gusts greater than 60 mph.

The National Weather Service said sustained winds at more than 40 mph or gusts greater than 58 mph can cause property damage.

Along with this storm also comes the season's first freeze.

Various forecast models show that 32-degree mark will be reached just before sunrise Monday morning.

Monday, however, the winds are forecast to be lighter out of the north about 10 to 15 mph.
