Traveling Troubles At The El Paso Airport

At the height of the delays and cancellations at the El Paso International Airport, lines lasted for hours, and tempers ran short.

"I'd just like to know if we are going to fly," said Dan Lab from Nebraska.

Lab and his family were trying to find a way to go home.

"We're waiting in line to even talk to somebody, so we have no clue at this point," said Lab.

When KFOX caught up with the Lab family, they had already spent an hour in the American Airlines line.

"We came plenty early, but we weren't expecting this, so it's a good thing we did," said Lab.

Lab was just one of hundreds waiting in line Thursday, and those in a holding pattern did little to hide their emotions. There were plenty of stressed out faces, children becoming impatient, and tired feet moving inch by inch to the ticket counter. Even more emotions were shown once the passengers finally got to the front.

Katie Satterlee and her family spent hours in line hoping to get to a wedding.

"We were supposed to get there at like 4 in the afternoon, now we are getting there at like 9:30 at night," said Satterlee, from Las Cruces.

The Satterlees were grateful to have a flight, but know there's little they could have done.

"Mother Nature. So, and as a traveler you have to expect that sometimes, so you have to be positive, we'll just make the wedding, but that's OK," said Carolyn Satterlee.

Jacquelyn Curtis just learned her flight to Dallas was canceled when KFOX crews met up with her. Moments later, the airline found her a way home.

"But because of all of these nice people here, American Airlines, all the airlines, look at me now, now I'm smiling, I'm going home," said Curtis.

What about Lab and his family, trying to get to Nebraska? He finally got to the ticket counter and will make it home, after a slight diversion to Chicago.

"As of now, it's a go," said Lab.

The airlines recommend to check early and often to find out the latest on your flights, and come to the airport early, because the lines could be very long.
