Travelers Hope To Avoid Crowds By Flying On Thanksgiving

EL PASO, Texas —

Traveling on Thanksgiving Day can have its pros and cons. Some passengers found out it depends on which airport you fly out of.

Traveling on Thanksgivng Day is a tradition for the Murry family.

"We found it a lot better than traveling on the day before Thanksgiving, traffic is not as bad," said Annette Murry.

They said arriving in El Paso made things even easier since foot traffic was less than expected. They were soon on their way. But it's a different story for Maria Alvarado.

"I had my kids who are traveling to Denver. Their flight was earlier than mine and it was just hectic. I was there until 9:45 this morning," said Alvarado.

Alvarado left a very busy Las Vegas airport this morning and arrived at a very quiet El Paso International Airport, but the party she's waiting for was delayed in Denver.

"They've been there since 7 o'clock this morning and they were supposed to fly out of Denver to come here at 12 o'clock and they're still stranded in Denver. I guess there's a delay there," said Alvarado.

She said the wait at other airports like Denver and Chicago is a lot longer than expected. Even though she's made it to El Paso on time, she must wait.

"They delayed them until 5 o'clock this evening so I'm stuck here waiting for them. So, this is my Thanksgiving," said Alvarado.
