Travelers Greeted With Little Hassle At El Paso International Airport

EL PASO, Texas —

The Sunday after Thanksgiving is known as one of the busier travel days, especially for air travelers, and while the El Paso International Airport saw a lot of people coming through it's doors on Sunday, travelers said it didn't seem busy or hectic.

"Five minutes to wait in line for the tickets," said Jim Burch, who brought his grandson Branden to the airport on Sunday to send him back home to Dallas. "I think we're a little lighter than usual coming in here, and I pick him up here quite often."

Hardly one of the busier days of the year.

"It doesn't seem like that way to me. Seems like one of the lightest days of the year," Burch told KFOX.

"I think it's been about the same, hasn't been bad," said Katherine Lot, from Stuart, Fla.

Lot and her family are returning home to Florida after visiting family in the Sun City.

"I think the airports that we've been to have been outstanding, but I do understand that it's the holidays, so I have a little patience," she said.

And airport officials credit Lot's experience to their team working well together.

"There's been several people coming through, saying 'Gosh, I got here and I was pleasantly surprised that everything has been so efficient,'" said Liz Bellegarde, spokeswoman for the El Paso International Airport.

Bellegarde said another reason things have been running so smoothly is because the weather nationwide has held up nicely over the last few days.
