Trailer Fire Raises Suspicions In Fabens

Neighbors called 911 after spotting flames coming from a mobile home near the intersection of Fassett Street and Fabens Road early Friday morning.

One neighbor said he was surprised at the swift response by the Fabens Volunteer Fire Department shortly after 1:20 a.m. Firefighters arrived so fast that they kept the fire from engulfing the whole trailer.

The owner said she kept furniture inside and has no idea how the fire got started. At first, firefighters thought faulty wiring may have played a role, but neighbors had their own worries.

"I was worried about the gas, if they had any gas," said Jerry Salvio of Fabens. "I was worried about that."

The owner of the trailer said no one had been living in the mobile home for the past several years.
