*NEW PROJECT*
Montana Widening Project-Reversed The Texas Department of Transportation is now working to correct a mistake.Recently road crews widened Montana from Yarbrough to the Loop 375 from two to three lanes on each side. But it did so, without getting the OK from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The E.P.A has the power to regulate road construction in cities, like El Paso that haven't attained federal air quality standards.Eduardo Calvo TX-DOT's planning director told KFOX14 "Because the process was not followed, then we need to go back to the old conditions. This resulted in the action that we had to take last week, which is really to close the third lane of travel that was open just for a few weeks."The third lane on Montana has become the street's shoulder and only two lanes will remain open on each side. The added lanes were meant to help alleviate traffic on the busy roadway but had to be removed. TX-DOT told KFOX14 they are looking in to other options and working on a long term plan to help traffic flow in the area.

CONSTRUCTION OF MONTANA (US 62/180) OVERPASS-COMPLETE- The project began the first of March and is was completed October 2011. An over pass was constructed on Montana at Zaragoza Rd. The project is meant to help alleviate traffic on the heavily commuted roadway. The structure bridges over Zaragoza Rd. so that those commuting east or westbound on Montana can by pass Zaragoza Rd.
