I-10 East and Clint accident

EL PASO, Texas —

Sheriff's deputies said the man who hit a parked vehicle head-on on Interstate 10 Thursday morning was a TXDOT employee.

The accident happened around 9 a.m. on Interstate 10 east near the Clint exit.

Authorities at the scene said that a man driving a TXDOT pickup truck was heading down the westbound lanes when for unknown reasons veered off into the median. Moments later, the truck went airborne and hit a car carrier parked on I-10 East, said deputy Angelica Becerra.

Becerra said the truck hit the cab of one of two car hauling semis parked on the right shoulder of I-10 East, said deputy Becerra.

A Life Ambulance on a nearby overpass witness the crash and went over to render aid, said Becerra.

The fire department was called to the scene to use the Jaws of Life to help him get out of the truck.

He was the only person injured in the accident. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.

At this time his identity is unknown.
