César Chávez Border Highway (Loop 375) Project

Start Date-July 2011

Expected to be complete-July 2013

Details on the project via Tx-DOT-The construction of the widening of the César Chávez Border Highway (Loop 375), began July 11. The project limits are from US 54 to Zaragoza Rd. (FM 659), approximately nine miles long and includes the complete rehabilitation of the existing lanes. The project improvements will include the addition of two “express toll lanes” to the existing four-lane non-toll facility.

“Express toll lanes” are lanes that are available to motorists to use by payment of a toll, also known as a user fee, in order to avoid traffic congestion, especially during periods of heavy traffic. The existing main lanes (two in each direction) would not be tolled. This means, drivers would have a choice to drive on the toll road or the un-tolled road.

Estimated cost of the construction of this project is approximately $55 million. The toll project will be implemented by the Camino Real Regional Mobility Authority.
