El Paso, Texas —
An El Paso intersection in a far east neighborhood has residents nervous after too many accidents.
The intersection of Tim Foster and Charles Foster is a family friendly neighborhood, where kids are often playing on the sidewalks and street. But all it takes is one crash caused by speeding really to hurt someone.
A lot of concerns were shown after crash this weekend. Neighbors reached out to KFOX 14 and expressed their fears of the cars speeding by and avoiding stop signs.
"It's just that it's a big problem with all the people going so fast on that ," said Sylvia Carbajal, who lives near the intersection and sees it all too often. "The speeding is all the time, and there's no speed signs, but normally you should go 20 to 25, 15, if there's kids."
Folks have lived here for the last two years since the neighborhood was opened and tell KFOX it's just getting worse every day.
Maria Ortega saw this weekend's accident from her backyard, "It's scary, there we would need to put a traffic light so that cars stop, because they're going too fast," she said.
Stop signs and possibly traffic lights is what some neighbors say can be a solution.
According to Ted Marquez from the Department of Transportation, "We're going to go out and investigate, we're going to go visit the intersection and we're going to see what type of updates on existing traffic control is needed in the area."
The lack of speed limit signs and stop signs could be the reason this neighborhood is seeing an increase in accidents.
Officials with the City of El Paso told KFOX14 they are looking into the lack of traffic signs at that intersection.
According to Marquez other changes will be coming to the neighborhood in the coming days, thanks to KFOX14's investigation.
