Traffic stop lands man in jail for his third DWI

EL PASO, Texas —

An El Paso man with two DWI convictions was pulled over in central for drunken driving.

A police officer who was traveling on eastbound on the 4300 block of Montana Avenue noticed a Ford Mustang driving without its headlights on, police said.

When the police officer conducted a traffic stop he said he suspected 38-year-old Jose Ortiz intoxicated.

Police said that Ortiz has two prior DWI convictions from 2002 and another in 2009.

Ortiz also had eight outstanding traffic warrants.

Ortiz was booked into the El Paso County Jail for his third DWI and the outstanding warrants with a total bond of $6,493.
