Tourism Info Available To Military

Hundreds of incoming soldiers and their families that will soon make El Paso their home won't have to go far to be informed on city happenings.

Friday's ribbon-cutting of the new Information Center on post is an effort between the El Paso Convention & Visitors Bureau and Fort Bliss to provide Ft. Bliss military personnel and their families easy access to El Paso and regional tourism information. Brochures about the city, its history, and upcoming events are available as well as Ft. Bliss events. Staff is on-hand seven days a week to answer questions.

"They'll be able to plan weekend excursions, and travel in and outside our immediate area. They'll have a chance to learn about attractions and national parks," said Bill Blaziek, El Paso CVB general manager.

This is the city's third information center, and the only one where you can purchase tickets for events. Ticketmaster is accessible and is sometimes offering military discounts.

The center is located next to the food court at the Ft. Bliss Main Post Exchange. It will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
