Tips Make On-Line Shopping Easy

This holiday season, $1 out of every $4 will be spent on electronics.

But where's the best place to shop for them?

According to a just-published Consumer Reports survey, more and more of shoppers have been buying on-line, but there is some information shoppers should be aware of.

Most people think of purchasing electronics from big chains like Best Buy, Comp USA and Wal-Mart, but Consumer Reports says there may be better options.

Donato Vaccaro of Consumer Reports said, "In the survey, we found that the local independent retailers did better than most of the big chains. They scored higher in the overall ratings."

The survey, conducted by the Consumer Reports National Research Center, asked more than 19,000 subscribers about their shopping experience, including the price they paid, the available selection and customer service.

Vaccaro said, "We found that the on-line retailers earned higher overall ratings than the brick-and-mortar stores."

At the top of the ratings, Crutchfield.com was noted for it's easy-to-use Web site and excellent selection and customer service.

If the lowest price is your top priority, the survey showed three sites are worth using: Costco.com, Buydig.com, and Amazon.com.
