EL PASO, Texas —

Police said Friday's four-car accident that killed a Socorro man also took the life of an unborn child.

Police said the driver of a 2006 Nissan Altima lost control and veered into the westbound lanes of the 9600 block of Alameda Street Friday night. The Altima set off a chain reaction, causing three other vehicles to collide.

Amanda Campos, a passenger in a 2000 Saturn involved in the accident, was pregnant and lost her unborn child as a result of the accident, police said. Ashley Valles was the driver of that vehicle.

The passenger in the Altima, 23-year-old Adrian Hernandez, died Saturday, police said.

Three people were transported to area hospitals in serious condition.

Everyone in all four cars wore seat belts, said police.

Police said they suspect speed to be a factor in this crash.

This is the city's 40th traffic death, compared to 46 at this time in 2011.
