Three Las Cruces Fires Under Investigation

LAS CRUCES, N.M. —

A fire that broke out at a Las Cruces motel was put out within minutes after fire crews arrived, fire officials said Monday.

The fire started on the 1800 block of West Picacho Avenue at the Imperial Sky Motel.

Fire crews said they witnessed moderate smoke coming from a window of a motel room.

Furniture and drapes inside were damaged from flames. Fire officials said the motel room suffered fire and smoke damage.

Estimated damage was reported to be approximately $7,000.

No injuries were reported.

When fire crews were returning to their stations they received calls about an apartment and four dumpster fires close to the motel.

Both fires were quickly extinguished, fire officials said.

Fire investigators are looking into all three fires.
