Three charged in shooting that left one injured

EL PASO, Texas —

Police charged three men in the May 6 shooting that left Vincent Gomez, 21, wounded.

The shooting occurred around 9:30 p.m. on the 10700 block of Texarkana Place and left Gomez with a gunshot wound to the abdomen, police said.

David Mizett, 32; John Mitchell, 30; and Pedro Mendoza, 31; were all charged with engaging in organized criminal activity -- attempted murder.

Police said Mitchell is an animal control officer with the Department of Environmental Services in El Paso.

They were all booked into the El Paso County Jail with bail set at $100,000 for Mizett and Mitchell and $200,000 for Mendoza.

The investigation continues, and police expect to make more arrests.
